Exceptions
Rental will be subject to a verification of driving record. All renters/drivers are subject to having their driving records and licences checked. If a renter/driver does not meet the applicable rental requirements, including the guidelines for driving licences and driving records, they may be denied a rental. National is not responsible for the failure of any renter/driver to qualify for a rental under these requirements or guidelines.
For rentals in the UK, rental privileges are denied if a driving licence is suspended or his/her record includes, but is not limited to, one of the following:
- Endorsements commencing UT
- Any endorsements commencing IN10 in the past 4 years
- Endorsements commencing DD/DR (one only) in the past five years
- Endorsements CD40 / CD50 / CD60 / CD70 in the past five years
- Any licence with two or more periods of disqualification
- Any other conviction with a period of disqualification of 6 months or more in the past five years
Customers should ensure they have a valid photo licence and counter part driving licence to present to the rental station at the time of rental.
If the photo licence has expired, (with or without the counterpart) then enquiries will be made with the DVLA at the cost of the customer to validate his/her entitlement to drive.
A photo licence that has expired for more than 3 months will not be acceptable.
Expired photo licence presented at rental station out of hours of DVLA , the renter will be asked to complete an indemnity form and the final decision to rent will be with the rental agent and supported by head office.
If the photo licence has expired this will not be acceptable as a valid form of photo id regardless of expiry date.
Please note: Non-photo style Driving Licence (UK or otherwise) it is mandatory to produce your passport for anyone driving the vehicle.
Identification required for rental
A full and valid Driver’s License from country of origin, Passport and credit card in renters name. If the driver's license is in a language other than English, an International Driver's Permit is required in conjunction with the country of residence driver's license.
