Berkeley

Renowned for its "free spirit", Berkeley is situated on the east shore of San Francisco Bay in a region known as the Bay Area of California. Home to the University of California and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley lies opposite the Golden Gate (stretch of water connecting San Francisco Bay to the Pacific) and borders the cities of Oakland, Emeryville (south), Albany, Kensington (north) and San Francisco Bay. The Berkeley Hills that run through the city are part of the Pacific Coast Ranges.
