The smallest of New York’s five boroughs (23 sq.miles) and home to the headquarters of the United Nations, the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ, Manhattan is situated on Manhattan Island and bordered by the Hudson River (west), East River and Harlem River (north).

Best area for shopping in Manhattan is SoHo, whereas the districts of Greenwich Village, the Lower East Side, Alphabet City and East Village are more bohemian in feel. Upper East Side is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the US. Navigating your way around Manhattan is made easier with the demarcation of Fifth Avenue which bisects Manhattan Island almost exactly down its centre and therefore acts as the demarcation point for east and west street addresses.
