Cancellation Charges

We will not charge for reservations cancelled 7 days or more before your pick up time. If you cancel your booking after this time, the following charges apply:

• If you cancel your booking less than 7 days before pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £20 whichever is the lesser.
• If you cancel your booking less than 24 hours before your pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser.

In the event of a cancellation, your credit card will be refunded, less the above charge.

No-shows & late or early arrivals

Your vehicle will be held for 2 hours from the specified reserved time. After this time we cannot guarantee a vehicle will be available upon arrival.

For all airport bookings, however, where a flight number has been supplied the vehicle will be held until the flight has landed and cleared. Where a flight delay results in a customer arriving after the station closing time a member of staff will wait for the flight to land and clear. If the delay is in excess of one hour after the station closing time an out of hours fee may apply. Where no flight number has been supplied we will hold the vehicle for a period of up to 2 hours or until station closing time, which ever is the earlier. Staff will not wait beyond closing time where no flight number is supplied.

When booking your vehicle please ensure the dates entered are correct, if your circumstances change and you require the vehicle on different dates/times please amend your reservation online.

Customers who arrive 1 day or more early at our rental stations with a reservation that does not match the current date will not be able to use the reservation reserved online. The branch may be able to offer an alternate reservation but please note the rates will not match the online reservation.

If you fail to collect your car on the specified pick-up date, we reserve the right to charge a no-show fee of either the cost of the booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser. In the event of a no-show, your credit card will be refunded, less the no-show charge.

Unused Rental Days

Please note that any unused rental days on prepaid reservations are non-refundable.

Rules and regulations - check before you travel

If you are planning to drive to abroad, you will need to be aware of your responsibilities to follow driving laws in your destination country. We strongly recommend you make your own investigations before travelling.

Driving abroad in Winter conditions

Whilst driving abroad in winter conditions, legally some countries will have restrictions on the equipment a vehicle should carry or have fitted, this can include snow tyres. Whilst driving abroad its important to adhere to the driving laws in that country. Failure to do so could result in a fine or temporary loss of your vehicle. Snow tyres and snow chains are available to hire for an additional fee and must be requested at time of booking. For online bookings where the pick-up country specified requires snow tyres a charge will normally be added to your reservation and these will be fitted to the vehicle. However, if you are planning to drive cross-border please check country requirements and request equipment be added to your reservation where appropriate by contacting our Call Centre.

We strongly recommend you make your own investigations as to whether or not you will require any additional winter equipment before travelling abroad. The RAC website (www.rac.co.uk/driving-abroad) provides additional information and tips on driving abroad.

Norway

Additional Driver Policy

An additional driver charge of NOK 30.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 420.00 + tax per rental will apply. Additional driver's must be aged 25 years or over. If the additional driver cannot be present at time of pick-up, then a copy of their driving licence must be presented at time of pick-up. There is no maximum number of additional driver's allowed per rental.

Age Requirements

The minimum age requirements are as follows: 19 years for car groups: EBMR (Economy), ECMR (Economy), CDMR (Compact), CDAR (Compact), CWMR (Compact Wagon-Estate). 25 years for all other car groups. There is no maximum age limit. A young driver's charge of NOK 100.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 3000.00 + tax per rental will apply to all driver's aged 19 - 25 years.

Cross Border Policy

Travel into Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Russia (all states of the former USSR), Yugoslavia (all rep. of the former Yugoslavia), Bulgaria and Hungary is not allowed. No extra documents are required for crossing the border, however, information about leaving Norway is to be written in the contract given at time of pick up. Please be advised that due to a change in law in Germany, it is mandatory for all vehicles crossing the border into Germany to have winter tyres fitted during the Snow & Icy conditions. Customers will be fined on the spot if they are stopped by police and found to not have the appropriate winter tyres.

Delivery / Collection

Delivery & collection is available on request at all locations and costs NOK 250.00 + tax within city limits, plus NOK 10.00 + tax for each additional KM outside the city limits. There is an additional charge of NOK 300.00 + tax for out of hours delivery & collections. Between 00:00 and 06:00 the delivery charge is NOK 750.00 + tax.

Insurance Excess

Collision Damage Waiver & Theft Waiver limits the customer’s financial responsibility for loss, damage or theft of the rental vehicle. The maximum excess that is payable in the event of one of these incidents is 12,000.00 NOK. The maximum excess will vary depending on the vehicle you are renting, please ask at time of rental for further information on which excess applies. If you would like to reduce or remove your excess responsibility please ask the rental staff when collecting your vehicle about additional products that are on offer .

License Requirements

Customers must present a full and valid driving licence, which has been held for a minimum of one year. An international driving permit is not required if the driver is from a country within the EU/EEA. Driver's from a country outside EU/EEA, must present a licence in English. Should your driving license not be resident to the country of origin of your booking we reserve the right to charge an appropriate rate for your country of residence.

One Way Rentals

Domestic one ways are allowed between all locations in Norway & the drop charge varies depending on the distance. The charge will be confirmed at time of reservation. Some domestic one ways are free of charge. Please see separate one way grid for details. International One Ways are not permitted.

Out of Hours Policy

Out of hours pick ups are available from all locations on request. An out of hours charge of NOK 300.00 + tax applies. Out of hours returns are not allowed unless agreed with the location at time of pick up. There is no charge for out of hours drop offs.

Payment Policy

Acceptable methods of payment are: Visa, Diners, MasterCard, Amex, National Charge Cards, National Vouchers and Eurocheques. Travellers cheques and cash is not accepted. At least one credit card is required for all rentals. A 2nd Credit Card is Mandatory (must be a major credit card) for car group LDAR. A deposit of NOK 2300.00 plus 20% of the estimated rental charges is required, which is held on the credit card until the car is returned. A credit card is always required for the deposit.

Refuelling Policy

The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental. It is advised that the customer re-fills the tank before returning the vehicle, otherwise the customer will be invoiced for the missing fuel plus a service charge (Fuel cost + 20% + tax).

Roadside Assistance

If any problems arise with the car during the rental period, please call the nearest Alamo/National office during office opening hours. For after hours, please call Road Assistance (NAF) on +47 815 44 999. Full details will be provided at time of pickup.

Special Equipment

Infant Seat - CSI (0 - 12 months) - NOK 250.00 + tax per rental. Baby Seat - CSB (1 - 3 years) - NOK 250.00 + tax per rental. Toddler Seat - CST (4 - 7 years) - NOK 250.00 + tax per rental. Booster Seat - CBS (less than 135 cms) - NOK 200.00 + tax per rental. Ski Rack - SKR - NOK 250.00 + tax per rental. (Available all year round) - fits 4 pairs of cross country ski's or 3 pairs of down hill ski's. Snow Chains - SNO - NOK 250.00 + tax per rental. Available from 1st November to 15th April. Snow Tyres - STR - Free of charge. Available from 1st November to 15th April. Navigation System - NVS - NOK 100.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 1000.00 + tax per rental. Replacement amount is NOK 2000.00 Trolley - TRO - NOK 100.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 1000.00 + tax per rental. Trailer Hitch - TRH - NOK 100.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 1000.00 + tax per rental. WIFI Access is also available at a cost of NOK 100.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 1000.00 + tax per rental. Only available On request at the following locations: Bergen Apt, Bodoe Apt,  Oslo Apt, Oslo DT,  Trondheim Apt, Vadsoe Downtown and Vadsoe Apt. Moving Box - BOX - Only available to purchase from the following locations: Bergen DT Minde, Oslo East and Trondheim. Available at a cost of NOK 20.00 + tax per rental. (not loaded on the system)  Ski Box - Not Available. Winter Equipped Vehicle - Not Available. Luggage Rack - Not Available All equipment is on request for all station's except Navigation System's which are on free sell only at Sogndal Airport (SOGT01/71) and Sogndal (SOGS01/71). Ski Racks are only available for car groups CWMR (Compact Wagon-Estate) , IWMR (Intermediate Wagon/Estate), PWMR (Premium Wagon-Estate), SWMR (Standard Wagon-Estate), SWMD (Standard Wagon-Estate) and PWAR (Premium Wagon-Estate). Navigation Systems are not allowed for one way rentals. Please note: Baby Seats (CSB), Trolley's (TRO), Trailer Hitches (TRH) and WIFI Access are not loaded in the system. If required, please add to the remarks on the reservation. All children under 135cms must be fitted in a suitable child seat by law. It is Norweigen Law to have high visability vests in all cars - these are provided free of charge.

Surcharges

Airport Surcharge - 14% + tax (of the basic rental plus insurance). Winter Fee - NOK 32.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 448.00 + tax per rental. Mandatory from 1st November to 15th April (includes Snow Tyres, Cleaning of the Car and Ice/Snow Removal). When driving through fully automatic toll plazas or on AutoPASS, the customer will be charged for the toll road fee passage separately or on the rental agreement if information about passage is available. Toll Road Administration fee: NOK 25.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of NOK 125.00 + tax per rental (5 days).
